This song is like funnel cake and oreos at a carnival: Irresistible and best consumed on repeat.

  • This past week was crazy busy (in a good way). Lots of late nights and events to attend. On Saturday we canvassed in the morning, shot commercial footage all afternoon, and then went to the HD-4 Spaghetti dinner. In between the shooting and dinner I had 30 minutes to chill out before we had to go again. Once my friend started playing his guitar I totally relaxed and just savored the break. I also managed to capture it on my phone.

  • Mélanie Laurent

How has Laurent not yet been picked up to be the face of a major fashion house?

I loved Laurent in Inglourious Basterds. I’d been searching for another film she starred in, Le Concert, for what seems like forever. I finally got a chance to watch it tonight and Laurent’s performance lived up to my anticipation. Plus, the film is just darn good.

Laurent is also a singer and it seems her first album is already available. Really makes me wish I’d remember more from my year of studying French. Whether I understand a word of it or not, “En t’attendant” is already on repeat.

  • I was first introduced to Ellie’s music by my favorite singer, Lissie. They’re both awesome. Check out their duet on youTube.

  • "Summer House" by Gold Motel

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

“With Gold Motel, it’s always summer, the bags are always packed, and the car is always running. Beneath tight pop hooks and warm melodies, Gold Motel’s songs are infused with joyous exuberance as well as sweet melancholy. The ten tracks on Gold Motel’s debut album SUMMER HOUSE are snapshots of dreaming, transient youth in constant motion - driving down desert highways, watching fireworks from the boardwalk, wandering the city in an endless summer but in the end always searching for the safety of home, friends, and love.”

Check out this neat fan-based tumblelog, Stealing the Moonlight.

Buy Gold Motel’s album for only $8 at Band Camp.

  • Lissie was amazing at her Denver show. And very sweet and personable when I talked with her afterwards. A rare, true talent.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

“I don’t have forever but I live like I do.”

So MUCH to do today: downloading new music and nook books for my trip East, laundry and packing, voting in person since I won’t get my mail-in-ballot by Election Day, and drinking the rest of my six pack of Levity so the roomies won’t do it while I’m gone ;)

I leave in less then 24 hours!

  • "I Still Remember" by Churchill

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

I discovered a great local band at the Englewood Eats & Beats festival last weekend. The band’s name is Churchill and it’s composed of four guys and a girl. Chuchill has sometimes fun, sometimes thoughtful, always great sounding music. The mandolin gets me every time and is a great addition. Their live performance was great and I was blown away by their professionalism considering how young they are. Check out their website.
